The Big Event is coming to Garland!
The Big Event brings together volunteers from across Garland to complete service projects for residents, schools, nonprofits, businesses, and neighborhoods in need. Whether it’s painting, landscaping, cleaning, or small repairs, every act of service contributes to a stronger and more connected Garland.
Our vision is simple: One Day. One City. One Big Event. This initiative is inspired by successful programs in communities like Denison and Texas A&M and is designed to grow into a cherished annual tradition that reflects the heart and strength of Garland’s people.

If you would like to nominate a project to be considered, please use this form. Anyone can submit a project proposal to the City of Garland. It can be done for your property or on behalf of others in need. Final projects will require the property owner's legal consent before the date of the Big Event - Garland. Also, use this form throughout the year to submit projects for our Volunteer Code Cares program.
Examples of projects:
- Lawn moving and edging
- Raking and bagging leaves
- Weeding flower beds
- Mulching or soil spreading
- Basic planting (flowers/shrubs)
- Trash/debris pickup (yard or curbside)
- Light tree/brush trimming
- Sweeping sidewalks/porches
- Ground-level window washing
- Minor fence repair (if safe & approved)
- Clean garage or carport (outdoor only)
- Paint curb address or mailbox
- School/church/nonprofit landscape cleanup
- Park or trail trash cleanup
PLEASE NOTE
- Projects must be outdoors & within Garland city limits.
- Volunteers are not professionals; all work is done “as-is.”
- Projects are not guaranteed & may not be completed.
- Property owner must be present during the project March 28, 2026.
- Right to terminate participation ends March 16, 2026.
